General Questions

• How do I sign up?
  • Signing up is pretty straight forward. Just go here, fill out the form and off you go.
• How much does it cost?
  • MyKitPlane.com is FREE. The site has, as of March, 2007, a monthly average of 2,142 'unique' visitors (not the same as 'hits'). (yes, it far exceeded any of my expectations) and 3,210,117 hits per year. It ranks fifth in the Google search for 'kit plane'.
• Why did you make this site?
  • Originally, I wanted to track my own building progress. Some people asked me if I could make it so that they could add their planes, pictures, etc. so I rolled up my sleeves and made MyKitPlane.com. MyKitPlane.com went live on November 16th, 2001 (it was my father's birthday).
• Who owns the material on this site?
  • All material is copyrighted by it's respective owners. If you feel an image or other material should not be on the site, please let me know and I will see that it is removed. I need details and proof, nothing arbitrary, thanks.
• What is I forget my password?
  • You can request your password here. There is a chance you could request a password using your email address and get multiple passwords/emails sent. This is caused when you sign up more than once. You can as many accounts as you like, but it can get messy to manage.
• What if I forget my account name?
  • That is a bit trickier. I am going to need to see some proof that you are who you claim to be. Some people have inadvertantly created multiple accounts, which is ok, but can get messy when you loose a password. See above.
• What is the airspeed of an unladen swallow?
  • Which one, African or European?
• Do you plan to add more functionality to the site? (New)
  • Yes. After a three your programming hiatus, I have come back to MyKitPlane.com and intend to add new features and areas to the site, making it even more interactive. I am open to suggestions, one of which is adding a forum or blog section.
• What are the usage statistics for MyKitPlane.com
  • Avg Daily Unique Visits - 70+
  • Total Unique Visits per Year - 25,703+
  • Avg Monthy Unigue Visits - 2,142+
  • Avg Files Downloaded - 1,972,673
  • This has grown at 30% or more per year

My Hangar

• I login, but when I click on a link in My Hangar, it takes me back to the login page. Why?
  • There are instances when you do not have your cookies or other Internet settings configured correctly. The site uses a variety of methods to determine if a person is logged in, one is cookies. If you browser does not store these correctly, you may have problems using this site.
  • In Internet Explorer, make sure Tools | Internet Options | Security is set to default for all zones. This is your call, and it may affect your security on some other site. I may change this in the future, but for now, you need cookies turned on.
